We are now looking for a Data Governance Manager to lead and mature our data governance practices.
Role Overview
As the Data Governance Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing data governance policies and frameworks to ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance. This role involves working closely with data owners, stewards, and business leaders to embed governance into everyday operations and promote a data-first culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with business and regulatory needs
- Establish policies, procedures, and standards for data quality, metadata, lineage, and classification
- Collaborate with data stewards and owners to define data responsibilities and stewardship processes
- Lead the implementation of data governance tools and platforms
- Monitor and report on data quality metrics and governance KPIs
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR and support audits and risk assessments
- Drive awareness and training initiatives to promote data governance best practices across the organisation
- Partner with IT, Legal, Compliance, and Business teams to ensure cohesive governance across all data domains
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Strong experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and standards such as DAMA-DMBOK
- Experience with data governance and data catalog tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview)
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data stewardship concepts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence at all levels of the organisation
