Role Overview
As a Systems Designer, you will be responsible for designing the structure and behaviour of complex systems that support our products and services. Working closely with business analysts, developers, and architects, you will define system components, interactions, and workflows to ensure alignment with user needs, technical standards, and long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design system architectures and models that meet functional and non-functional requirements
- Create detailed system specifications, workflows, and diagrams to guide development teams
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business processes and translate them into technical designs
- Ensure consistency, scalability, and reusability across systems and modules
- Work with developers and testers to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications
- Identify opportunities for process automation, system optimisation, and integration
- Conduct design reviews and maintain documentation for system configurations and decisions
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in system design and architecture
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in systems design or systems analysis roles within technology-driven organisations
- Strong knowledge of system modelling techniques such as UML, BPMN, or flowcharts
- Experience with designing scalable, modular, and maintainable systems in cloud or hybrid environments
- Familiarity with software development methodologies, particularly Agile or DevOps practices
- Understanding of API design, data flows, and integration between systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
- Proficiency in using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or other design and diagramming platforms
